Fabric & Garment Care

Eastern couture is crafted using some of the most delicate textiles and intricate handwork in the world. To ensure your Rang Baan pieces remain as pristine as the day they were delivered, we recommend following these dedicated care instructions.

The Golden Rules of Couture

  • Professional Dry Clean Only: Unless strictly noted otherwise, all formal, semi-formal, and bridal pieces must only be professionally dry cleaned. Do not hand wash or machine wash.
  • Avoid Perfume Stains: Always apply perfumes, hairsprays, and lotions before putting on your outfit. The alcohol in fragrances can permanently discolor delicate silks and tarnish metal embellishments.
  • Store in Breathable Bags: Never store heavily embellished or silk garments in plastic bags. Always use breathable cotton garment bags to prevent moisture buildup and fabric discoloration.
  • Keep Away from Sunlight: Store your garments in a cool, dry place. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight will fade rich dyes and weaken delicate threads.

Fabric-Specific Guidelines

Hand-Embellishments & Zardozi

Garments featuring heavy crystals, pearls, mirror work, or traditional zardozi are highly delicate. Never iron directly over any embroidery.

Storage Tip: Heavily embellished gowns and maxis should be stored flat in a box layered with acid-free tissue paper. Hanging heavy pieces for extended periods can cause the netting or fabric to stretch and tear under the weight of the handwork.

Raw Silk & Banarasi Brocade

Pure silks are prone to water stains. Never spot-clean a silk outfit with water or a damp cloth, as it will leave a permanent ring.

Ironing Tip: Always iron silk inside out on the lowest heat setting. If you must iron the front, place a clean cotton cloth between the iron and the garment to protect the fabric's natural sheen.

Organza, Chiffon & Net

These sheer fabrics are notoriously prone to snagging. Be extremely mindful of jewelry, sharp fingernails, or embellished clutches that may catch on the delicate threads.

Ironing Tip: A garment steamer is highly recommended for organza and chiffon. If a traditional iron is necessary, use the lowest silk setting with extreme caution.

Luxury Lawn & Premium Cotton

While unstitched daily lawn can sometimes be hand-washed in cold water with mild detergent, heavily embroidered luxury lawn must be dry cleaned to prevent the embroidery threads from shrinking or bleeding.

Washing Tip: Never wring or twist cotton fabrics, and always line dry them in the shade to maintain their vibrant color and structural integrity.
